The Top 3 Myths About Entrepreneurship

Remember that TV show Mythbusters?

There are so many myths in this world…it’s easy to get caught up in what’s real and what’s a plain old rumor. Unfortunately, some big myths out there focus on entrepreneurship. Before you get caught up in the hype, here are The Top 3 Myths About Entrepreneurship:

Myth 1: YOU NEED TO HAVE IT ALL TOGETHER BEFORE YOU CAN HELP SOMEONE ELSE
Spoiler alert! NO ONE has it all together...we are human, that’s part of the deal. Don’t feel the pressure to pursue/attempt to attain perfection before you start sharing your biz with the world. You might feel inadequate but in reality you hold experience and insight that someone else needs. Let that sink it girl.

Myth 2: YOU DON’T HAVE IT TOGETHER IF YOU HIRE A MENTOR
This ish drives me crazy. It’s so important to have mentors to help share their knowledge as you make your entrepreneurial journey. Accountability and mentorship is key when it comes to being a successful leader (and learner). Set the pride down and realize the benefit of having someone help coach you through the ups and downs of owning your own biz.

Myth 3: BEING AN ENTREPRENEUR MEANS YOU’RE SCAMMING PEOPLE TO PAY HIGH PRICES
Is it important to be ethical? Yes. Is it important to ensure your pricing is fair in the market? Yes. Is it a good idea to touch base with trusted friends in the industry on what you’re charging? Yes. BUT, none of those things equal you not charging for the work you’re doing. You have gifts that you have chosen to share with the world in a unique way...it’s okay to see and believe in the value of that. You and what you do is a gift. It’s okay to be compensated for it.

Owning your own biz isn’t a cake walk everyday. There are highs and lows but hopefully naming these myths will help you embrace the process and be proud of what you’re attaching your name and talents to. Get. It. Girl.
